Now I don’t know if it is just me but are there any other newbie gym goers that walk in, instantly start sweating, go light headed, panic, and think ffs why am I here. May I just point out this is all before the exercise has actually kicked in.. No just me?
Now lately my exercise has taken place in controlled studio areas in classes with instructors that helpfully guide me in the right direction but last week I missed one. No excuse I blatantly got the time wrong, did I mention I’ve been going to the same class for almost 4 weeks and there is me telling you all i’m much more alert to what is going on in my life.
Anyway I wasn’t going to let my stupidity beat me I sauntered off to the gym and thought it’s fine my Couch to 5k App always comes in handy in these moments. Yes it did… 3 years ago when I could run 5k and when I was training to run 10k now not so much. Cutting my own nose off to spite my face instead of just attempting to try a few things I pushed through the pounding on the treadmill ignoring the advice of my physio not to do any running at all. Christ the pain the next day! You know that scene in revernant with the bear I swear I felt how Leo felt when he had his skin ripped off (sorry if you haven’t seen it yet).
So from here I had to be prepared what do I do if I miss a class again? Sitting panicking in the corner is not an option I’m keen, motivated and ready so now is probably the perfect time to take my induction that I was offered when I signed up 4 months ago.
Tomorrow is that day.. Tomorrow I get to follow the unicorn and be one step closer to being in the cool club at the gym.
